My parents told me that if I earned the opportunity to go to New York, I would have to work really hard. I have to stay on top of my school work and chores, study my script, and fundraise to help earn my trip to the Big Apple! Ready for another fun fact? Not only am I the only homeschooler on the cast, but I'm also the only kid chosen from Terrebonne Parish. The other nine students chosen to participate are all from Morgan City. We have so much fun at our drama camps, and we can't wait to work together with friends from around the country on the big stage!
As it turns out, it's pretty expensive to fly across the country and stay for ten days in one of the most famous cities in the world! We've had a couple of fundraising ideas so far; check out what we're up to and what we've done so far:
What's the latest?
My brother and I decided to join forces and open a handicraft business!
We really love making crafts, so we're going to be very busy making a ton of awesome things to list for sale in our very own online store.
We've got some supplies to get started with, but as our store grows, we're hopeful some of our family and friends will be happy to donate some of their old craft supplies to help us out!
I'm so grateful for the succes we've had with these fundraisers so far, and for all of the donations my family, friends, and friends of family have sent in. What we earned brought us all the way to South Carolina for a 10 day stay where I practiced almost EVERYDAY! I loved rehersals. It meant I got to spend time with the rest of the cast who was SO much fun!
My cousin, Adeline, was so excited for me when she learned I earned a role on the cast of HomeSquad. She came over to congratulate me, and she even offered to help us jump start our fundraising by teaching us to make Rice Krispie treats to sell to our neighbors. It was a lot of fun. I got to meet some of my neighbors that I've never met before, and I even got to pray for one of them who had a hurt leg.
My family and I planned an EPIC lemonade stand and bake sale! We made cookies, brownies, rice crispy treats, and FRESH lemonade! My Uncle Ben lives in a neighborhood with a lot of families and said I might have a lot of success there, so he and my Aunt Tracey let me use their front yard, and they were right! It was a great success.
For this fundraiser, my mom taught me how to use Canva to make this graphic. I'm really proud of how it came out.
I want to say a HUGE thank you to my Mimi, my cousin Adeline, my KayKay, and my Aunt and Uncle who all helped me make my bake sale happen! I love you guys!!
For my birthday this year, I was invited to participate in an Give Back night at my favorite local frozen yogurt shop! They let me invite everyone I knew to come in to celebrate with me, and they donated 10% of the night's sales to my trip! I had SUCH a blast. BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!
Mom here!
Rowen talks to everyone. Literally.. EVERYONE. He knows of no such thing as “stranger danger.”
It causes my over-apologizing, introverted heart an immense amount of anxiety.
When he learned he was selected to perform in New York, one of the first people he wanted to tell was the girl in the salon at Walmart who cut his mullet. Why? Because he liked talking to her. Lol He’s even begged to email Donald Trump or Elon Musk to tell them about what’s sure to be his “greatest adventure.”
It didn’t take long for Rowen to decide he needed business cards with his website that he could hand out to all the people he greets, compliments, and chats with.
Recently, we went to an awards banquet for the Police Department to see my husband receive a plaque for 15 years of service. I snuck a few of Rowen’s cards into my wallet. I knew the room would be full of safe people, who would be kind in talking with him, so I originally planned to encourage him to offer a card to any officers he recognized.
Then the parish president walked in.
I gave him 5 cards, told him he could hand them out to anyone he wanted, and I dared him to give one to the parish president. He was fearless! He was so excited to talk to people that we had to remind him to wait for the right time and not interrupt the awards banquet. He listened for names and titles during the presentation of awards, and once it was over, he chose to introduce himself and share a card with the Parish President, the Chief of Police, and one of Daddy’s Lieutenants.
This child is so brave. He gets it from his dad. ❤️
Thank you HPD and Mr. Bergeron for showing patience and grace to a little dude trying really hard to be big.
May the Fourth
Talking with the officers and officials at my dad's award ceremony really helped me out! They invited me to join them the next weekend at my town's May the Fourth celebration. It was a HUGE event, and I got to meet so many cool people. I hosted my second bake sale and lemonade stand there, and completely SOLD OUT!
